Trip Guidelines
We are ecstatic about all of the incredible people that are joining us to make the LTWP a reality in Beijing. Our time there is going to be an experience that you will remember for a lifetime, and we can't make it happen without you! It is absolutely vital that you are willing put 100% effort into your role in the parade, that you be willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to fill in when and where you are needed, and that you possess extraordinary flexibility and good humor if you should be accepted as a participant in the LTWP. The reputation and character of LTWP are dependent on these things in every cast and crew member that comes on board. We are all an all-volunteer organization, but we strive for excellence in what we seek to accomplish. If we all work together, it will make our experience in Beijing 2008 hands down one of the best memories of our lives!
Personal Behavior and Attitude:
The highest standards of behavior are required to participate on any level of this opportunity or program. Violation, misleading information or personal breach is grounds for immediate dismissal with absolutely no refund of any kind. Our program thrives on positive, encouraging and engaging activity, training and orientation. Our environment is something we are tenacious about in protecting the integrity and standards. Special note* if you have issues with authority, bad language, use of cursing, alcohol, drugs of any kind, smoking, tobacco of any kind, or sexual addictions of any kind, please do not apply. The Light The World Parade Organization has very high requirements in the area of personal behaviors on these outreaches. Your talents alone are not enough to qualify. Integrity is not negotiable for a program at this level but the long term benefits of participation are far reaching for you and for others.
Trip Cost
If you are planning on staying for the duration of the Olympics, your trip cost for everything, including travel, lodging, food, and permits will be approximately $3500.
If you are planning on staying for either Week 1 OR Week 2, your trip cost will be approximately $2500. We do not recommend this option because our program must fill these spots to complete our arrangement with the event. This will require special arrangements. Please see the Fund Your Trip section on ways to raise your support.
Fund Your Trip
Since the LTWP relies on volunteer cast and crew, it is up to each person to fund the cost of their participation in LTWP. This includes all associated travel, food, and lodging costs for the duration of your trip. The LTWP has created a partnership with XP Apparel, the Official Licensee for Olympic gear for the 2008 Olympics. This partnership was created so that people may purchase their official olympic gear through you. All the profits from these sales will be credited to your personal LTWP account to offset the cost of your trip, less a small fee to cover administrative costs of apparel sales.
You are also welcome to come up with other creative ways to fund your trip, and share them with others!!! More detailed information on this fund-raising opportunity will be sent to you once you have registered and been accepted for participation in the LTWP.
